How to Join

How do I join Pack 631?
Joining Pack 631 is easy! You must be a boy who is in the first through fifth grade and between the ages of 6 and 10 years old. You must also complete a Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Youth Application and pay for registration to the Boy Scouts of America. You can join at any time and our Den Leaders will quickly get you caught up. The best person to contact regarding joining up is our Committee Chairman.

How much does it cost to join Pack 631?
There is an initial registration fee of $21.25 and this amount is prorated depending on when you join. Our Advancement Chair will help you with this. A subscription to Boy’s Life magazine costs $17 a year and is also prorated depending on when you join.  Our Pack Dues cost $35 and this covers September through June. The Pack pays for the subsequent renewal fees due to the National Boy Scouts of America & Boy's Life as long as your child remains with our Pack.

What forms do I need to complete and where do I find them?
All Scouts must complete a BSA Youth Application. This application is turned in to the Pack’s Advancement Chair and they will proceed with getting the required signatures and processing the application. As soon as your application has been accepted by BSA you will receive a BSA card with your official member number.

Okay, so I’ve joined.  Where does my money go?
The initial $21.25 are the BSA National Dues. A subscription to Boy’s Life magazine costs an additional $17/year. Pack Dues are $35 and pay for advancements and other pack activities. Once you’ve paid these dues you now have entry to one of the most active Packs in the Central Florida Council. Our Pack provides multiple opportunities to camp throughout the year as well as putting on Annual Pinewood Derbies and other special events. The Scout is covered financially at every Pack-level event. Check out our activities page for more details.

Where do I get my uniform and do I really need it?
Uniforms can be purchased through our Pack 631 Uniform Exchange, at Travel Country Outdoors, and at the BSA Scout Shop in Apopka. The uniform is an important part of the Scouting program as it identifies the boys and adults and gives them a sense of belonging to the den, the pack, and the Boy Scouts of America. Uniforms should be worn to all den meetings, pack meetings, and special pack activities. The official uniforms for a Tiger, Wolf, and Bear are the blue pants/shorts and blue shirt. The official uniform for a Webelos I or II is the tan shirt and green pants. There are several parts to the uniform and that information can be found on our Uniforms page. These uniforms are known as the Class A Uniform. The Class B, or field Uniform, is the Pack T-shirt and the Scout’s choice of pants/shorts. Upon receipt of the Annual Pack Dues (currently $35) each first-time Scout is given a complimentary Pack T-shirt.

How can I help?
There are a variety of ways for parents/guardians to get involved in Cub Scouts. All parents/guardians are encouraged to complete a BSA Adult Application and sign up to be a Den Leader, Assistant Den Leader or a Committee Member. Once the application is completed just return pages 4 & 5 to the Pack Advancement Chair and they’ll get the required signatures and your
application processed. Upon approval, Adult Volunteers receive their own BSA identification card.

The Den Leader runs the den-level meetings and the Assistant Den Leader helps the Den Leaders run the Den Meetings and other pack activities. Committee Members fill such positions as Secretary, Pack Activities Chair, and Health and Safety Chair. Adult Volunteers are the basis of running a successful program. For more specific information on these roles and responsibilities check out our Leaders Page.
